The Ceili Leahy Service Project furthers the legacy of Ceili Anne Leahy by fostering volunteerism and community service and helping to realize Ceili’s vision for a just, tolerant, and sustainable world.

Our mission

Who was Ceili?

Ceili was a passionate activist and fearless leader who cared deeply about her community and global development.  She was a talented writer, a great spirit, an old soul, and a wonderful friend, sister, and daughter.  She died of cancer at age 19 but has inspired her family and friends to find ways to continue her legacy of caring and service. 1. We support the Ceili Leahy Service Scholarship, $2,500 awarded at graduation to a James Monroe High School (JMHS) senior who embodies Ceili’s spirit of service.
  2. We support Ceili Leahy Day of Service events sending scores of students and other volunteers to community nonprofit organizations in need of volunteers.
  3. We raise awareness of volunteer and community service opportunities.

What we do...

How we do it...

We inspire and recruit students and others to serve local nonprofits that reflect Ceili’s vision and values.

We connect students with organizations in need of volunteers.

We support Day of Service events.

And we raise money through direct contributions and fundraising events to support the Service Scholarship and community service activities. Because we are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Our Tax ID Number is 83-3989634.

The Ceili Leahy Service Project has a six-member board of directors comprised of her family, friends, and fans.

We also have an Advisory Council, a Student Planning Committee, and a Scholarship Selection Committee who do the real work of making Days of Service and scholarships happen.
